New to PC cases? What they are and what to look for
The case is the box that holds a desktop PC's parts, keeps them cool with fans and airflow, and sets how big and loud the finished PC is.
Do you need a PC case? Every desktop build needs one. It's also the part people see, so looks matter more here than anywhere else.
What to look for
- Room for your graphics card's length and your CPU cooler's height
- A mesh front panel and included fans for cooler, quieter running
- The motherboard size it takes, and whether it fits on or under your desk

The full review
Where it fits
The MSI MAG FORGE 110R is a mid-tower that takes ATX, micro-ATX and ITX motherboards. Three board sizes are supported, from full ATX down to ITX. It measures 409 x 214 x 485 mm (D x W x H per the datasheet) and has seven expansion slots. The front I/O has two USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports, an audio out and a mic in.
Airflow and cooling5/10
MSI describes the front and top as optimised to provide generous and effective airflow. The case ships with one 120 mm ARGB fan at the rear. That is the only fan fitted, so anyone wanting front intake or top exhaust will need to buy fans.
The mounting options give you room to do that. The front takes three 120 mm fans or two 140 mm fans. The top takes two 120 mm or two 140 mm fans. The rear takes one 120 mm fan. Only the front and top have 140 mm fan options; the rear is listed for a single 120 mm fan.
The front accepts 120, 140 or 240 mm radiators, the top accepts 120 or 240 mm, and the rear accepts a 120 mm unit. A magnetic dust filter is included on the top panel.
Space and compatibility7/10
Graphics cards can be up to 330 mm long, and CPU coolers up to 160 mm tall. Check your card and cooler against those two figures before buying. The PSU must be ATX, with a maximum length of 200 mm when the 3.5in HDD tray is not installed.
The case holds three 2.5in drives and two 3.5in drives. That gives five drive mounts in total. With the 330 mm GPU limit and 240 mm radiator options, it suits a single-GPU gaming or workstation build better than a storage-heavy one.
Building in it7/10
MSI describes a tool-less side panel designed for easy upgradability. The user guide lists cable ties, motherboard standoffs and screws, and a PSU and PCIe screw set, so the basic fixings come in the box. MSI lists the side panel as acrylic, while the Amazon UK listing says polycarbonate.
Owner feedback on the build side is positive. One owner describes a spacious interior, good cable management and quality facade cables. That is a single mention, so treat it as an early signal rather than a consensus.
Noise5/10
MSI doesn't list a fan noise rating for the 110R. The one included fan is a 120 mm ARGB unit at the rear.
Owner feedback
Value for money is the strongest theme, with two owners praising it. The one complaint is about the brand: an owner notes MSI is not known for making cases. Both the value praise and the other comments rest on small numbers of mentions, so they show a direction rather than a firm pattern.
Who it suits
The case suits budget builders who want ATX support, a 330 mm GPU limit and the option of 240 mm radiators at the front or top. Buyers who want strong airflow from day one should plan to add fans, since only the rear fan is included. Anyone with a longer PSU should check the 200 mm limit first. Builders who need more from the front panel than two USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports, an audio out and a mic in should check that against their needs.
