The full review

Where it fits

The Aspire Go 14 is a light, basic 14-inch Windows laptop. It uses an AMD Ryzen 3 7320U with four cores, eight threads and a 4.1 GHz boost clock. Memory is 4GB of LPDDR5. Storage is a 128GB PCIe NVMe 3.0 M.2 SSD. It weighs 1.45 kg and ships with Windows 11 Home.

That spec points to web apps, documents, video calls and light remote sessions. It does not point to development work or lab duties.

Memory and storage are the limits1/10

The 4GB of RAM is soldered, and owner feedback flags that it cannot be upgraded. That decision is final at purchase. With 4GB fixed, it suits a browser and one or two light tools at a time better than containers, VMs or a full IDE.

The 128GB SSD is also small. Container images, repositories, toolchains and Windows updates all compete for that space, so it fits a thin-client or browser-first workflow more than local development.

Performance4/10

The Ryzen 3 7320U has four cores and eight threads, with a 2.4 GHz base clock and 4.1 GHz boost. That is enough for everyday office tasks, SSH sessions and editing config files. Compiling large projects or running several guests is a poor match for a quad-core chip paired with 4GB of RAM.

Display5/10

The screen is a 14-inch IPS panel at 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA, 16:10) and 60 Hz. It has a matte ComfyView finish and is not a touchscreen. The 1200 vertical pixels give more rows of text than a 1080p panel would, which helps with terminals, documents and code. The matte finish suits working near windows or lights.

Owner opinion is split. One review calls the display unimpressive. Another scores it 8.0/10 and calls it excellent, but that review covers the AG14-21P, a related model, so it may not describe this exact unit.

Battery life6/10

Acer rates the 3-cell lithium-ion battery at up to 12.5 hours. One review praises the battery life, but it tested an 8GB variant rather than this 4GB model. Treat the rating as a manufacturer figure for light use.

Keyboard, build and portsKeyboard and build 4/10Ports 5/10

The keyboard has no backlight, which matters for late-night work in dim rooms. A review also lists the 720p webcam as a con, so video calls will look basic. At 1.45 kg, it is easy enough to carry between desks.

The listed ports are one HDMI, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A and Gigabit Ethernet. Wired Ethernet is useful for network setup, remote administration or any work where Wi-Fi is unreliable. There is no SD card slot, so photographers and anyone who moves data on cards will need a reader.

Software and Linux3/10

The laptop ships with Windows 11 Home. Software support is listed as current, with no end date announced. Acer doesn't list a Linux option or certification, and no owner reports describe Wi-Fi, sleep or fingerprint behaviour under Linux. Buyers planning a Linux install should weigh that gap.

Who it suits

This is a laptop for simple, mobile tasks where the matte 16:10 screen, Ethernet port and low weight matter more than headroom. The soldered 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage are the two limits to weigh before buying. Anyone who expects their workload to grow should think hard about both, because neither can be changed later in the case of the RAM.

What owners report

Recurring themes from public owner feedback, summarised in our own words.

  • RAM is soldered and cannot be upgraded.
  • The 720p webcam is listed as a drawback.
  • Battery life is praised, based on a single review of an 8GB variant.
  • Opinions on the display conflict, from unimpressive to excellent on a related AG14-21P model.
Who should skip it
  • Developers who run containers, VMs or large builds locally
  • Buyers who want a backlit keyboard or built-in SD card slot
  • Anyone who wants a laptop with upgradeable RAM
