Do you need a new mouse? Worth upgrading if your hand or wrist aches after long days, or you game and want quicker, lighter control.

The full review

Where it fits

The MX Anywhere 3S is a compact wireless mouse for anyone who moves between desks, laptops and more than one device. Logitech lists it at 99 g and 100.5 x 65 x 34.4 mm. It connects over Bluetooth or a Logi Bolt USB receiver, and it pairs with up to three Bluetooth devices. That makes it a portable, multi-device mouse first.

Size and shape5/10

Logitech describes the shape as compact and right-handed, with silicone side grips. There's no left-handed version and no size options listed. Owner reports match the dimensions: a recurring complaint is that the mouse is too small for large hands. With a 65 mm width and a 34.4 mm height, it suits smaller hands and travel use better than long sessions for someone with a large palm. The silicone grips are the only comfort feature the specifications mention.

Sensor and tracking8/10

The sensor is a Darkfield optical unit with a range of 200 to 8000 DPI, adjustable in 50 DPI steps. Logitech says it tracks on virtually any surface, including glass with a minimum thickness of 4 mm. Owners back that up, and surface tracking is one of the two things they praise most. For desk, sofa or café-table use, that range of surfaces is the main practical benefit.

Connections and battery6/10

Bluetooth covers up to three devices, which fits a setup with a laptop, a tablet and a second computer. The Logi Bolt USB receiver is sold separately. Owners complain that there is no receiver in the box, so anyone who wants the receiver connection has to buy it on top.

The battery is a 500 mAh rechargeable Li-Po. Logitech quotes up to 70 days on a full charge and charges over USB-C. For a mouse that travels in a bag, a charge cycle measured in weeks means few interruptions, going by the quoted figure.

Buttons and scroll wheel7/10

There are six buttons, including the MagSpeed wheel mode-shift and the middle click. The MagSpeed wheel runs at 1,000 lines per second, and owners praise the scroll wheel. That makes it a sensible pick for people who scroll through long documents, code or spreadsheets. Logitech rates the Business variant's service life at 10 million clicks.

Software and value5/10

The mouse is configured through Logi Options+, which Logitech lists for Windows and macOS. No other operating systems are listed. Linux users in particular should check what the mouse offers without the software before buying.

Owners say the price is high, and the separately sold receiver adds to that for anyone who wants Bolt rather than Bluetooth. The spec sheet justifies some of the cost with the sensor, the battery and the scroll wheel. The size limit is the bigger question, because a mouse that is too small for the buyer's hand loses much of that value.

Verdict

The MX Anywhere 3S is a focused travel and multi-device mouse. Its strengths are surface tracking, battery life and the scroll wheel. Its weaknesses are the small right-handed shape, the missing receiver and a price that owners find steep. Check your hand size and your device mix against those points before buying.
