Do you need a new mouse? Worth upgrading if your hand or wrist aches after long days, or you game and want quicker, lighter control.

What to look for

The full review

Where it fits

This is a basic wireless mouse built around one idea: quiet clicking. UGREEN claims 40dB noise reduction, and its UK page describes the mouse as just under 40 dB. It connects through a 2.4GHz USB receiver, takes one AA battery and needs no software. That makes it a plain option for an office desk, a laptop bag or a shared machine.

How quiet is it?

The silent switches are the main selling point. A reviewer reports that a very faint click is still audible in quiet environments. Read the claim as "much quieter", not "inaudible". If you work in a quiet room or take a lot of calls, this is the spec to weigh most.

Shape and comfort6/10

UGREEN describes the shape as ergonomic and suitable for left or right hand. Amazon.ca lists it as ambidextrous. The mouse weighs 72 g. A reviewer reports less hand and wrist fatigue than with a standard mouse. That is a single report, not a pattern across owners.

The spec sheet gives no dimensions and no size variants. Buyers with very small or very large hands can't judge fit from the specifications alone. The ambidextrous shape means left-handed users aren't excluded, but no dedicated left-handed version appears.

Sensor and tracking6/10

The mouse uses an optical sensor with five DPI levels: 800, 1200, 1600, 2400 and 4000. A reviewer says tracking was smooth and accurate across all of them. Five steps from 800 to 4000 suit everyday desktop use. UGREEN doesn't list a polling rate or a sensor model, so there is nothing to support a gaming pitch.

Connection and battery6/10

The receiver plugs into a USB port and stores inside the mouse when you travel. UGREEN quotes a range of up to 15 m. There is no Bluetooth and no multi-device switching. You need a free USB port on every machine you want to use it with, and it pairs with one receiver rather than switching between devices.

Power comes from one AA battery, which is not included. UGREEN says it runs for up to approximately 18 months under its own usage conditions, so your figure will depend on how much you use it. There is no USB-C charging and no built-in rechargeable battery. You replace the cell rather than charge it, which means keeping a spare AA to hand and avoiding any charging cable.

Buttons and build5/10

UGREEN's titles say six buttons, while Amazon.ca lists five. It also gives no switch rating, no scroll wheel details and no materials, so durability can't be judged from the specifications.

Software and warranty7/10

No software is required. The mouse works plug-and-play and driverless on Windows, macOS, Chrome OS and Linux. The UK store page lists a 2-year product warranty.

Check the listing

UGREEN sells several near-identical 40dB silent mice. Check the model number, 90545 on UGREEN's own pages, and the button count on the live listing before you buy.

Who it suits

It suits buyers who want a quiet, simple mouse that works on several operating systems without software. With a USB receiver, one AA battery and no Bluetooth, it fits a single main machine better than a mix of tablets and laptops. The battery and connection choices are the trade-off for the plain, driverless approach.

Who should skip it
  • Buyers who need Bluetooth or switching between several devices
  • Anyone who wants a rechargeable mouse with USB-C charging
  • Users who need completely silent clicks in a very quiet room
