Fractal Design Meshify 3 (Black Solid)
7.2out of 10verdict: good, not the best

The Meshify 3 Black Solid is for builders who want a mesh-fronted ATX mid-tower with strong airflow and a plain steel-sided look. It suits air-cooled and radiator-cooled builds where cooling matters more than a glass window.

New to PC cases? What they are and what to look for

The case is the box that holds a desktop PC's parts, keeps them cool with fans and airflow, and sets how big and loud the finished PC is.

Do you need a PC case? Every desktop build needs one. It's also the part people see, so looks matter more here than anywhere else.

What to look for

  • Room for your graphics card's length and your CPU cooler's height
  • A mesh front panel and included fans for cooler, quieter running
  • The motherboard size it takes, and whether it fits on or under your desk

Compatibility

LinuxNot confirmed. No Linux-specific information found; the Black Solid has no hub or web software, so compatibility depends mainly on the motherboard and fans.

Pros and cons

+ pros

The full review

Where it fits

The Meshify 3 Black Solid is an ATX mid-tower from Fractal Design. It accepts E-ATX, ATX, Micro ATX and Mini ITX motherboards. The Black Solid version has steel left and right side panels, so there's no glass window. A two-year warranty covers it.

This suits a builder who wants a mesh-fronted case and doesn't need to show off the internals. The sections below cover the details that matter most.

Airflow and cooling8/10

The front panel is mesh, with an air guide that directs air to the GPU. Three Momentum 14 fans come fitted at the front, so the case has intake airflow from the first boot. Those fans use LCP blades and FDB bearings.

Owners praise the airflow and the front mesh intake. That matches the layout: a mesh front, fans already in place and a dust filter set in the box.

Radiator support is broad. The front takes a 280 or 360 mm radiator, the top takes a 240 or 280 mm one and the rear takes a 120 mm unit. Fan positions run to three 120 or 140 mm fans at the front, two at the top and one 120 mm fan at the rear. A top radiator bracket comes included.

One owner complaint is tied to this. A front radiator makes power cable routing harder. If you plan a 360 mm front radiator, expect to spend more time on cabling.

Building in it8/10

Fractal Design lists tool-less access and captive thumbscrews. Owners describe an easy build and single out the removable panels. Both points suit someone who opens a case often to swap parts.

Cable routing space is 34.5 mm, and the case has a cable cover and cable aligners. The box also holds cable straps and a PSU bracket. With that routing depth and those aids, tidy cabling is an intended part of the design. The owner complaint above still applies when a front radiator is fitted.

Space and compatibility6/10

The case allows graphics cards up to 349 mm and CPU coolers up to 173 mm tall. Owners complain about the GPU length limit. If you're buying a long, large card, check its length against 349 mm before ordering. Check your cooler's height against 173 mm too.

The PSU bay is ATX only, with a maximum PSU length of 180 mm. That rules out other power supply formats, so confirm your unit's length and form factor.

On the plus side, the case supports E-ATX boards and takes a 360 mm front radiator. The 349 mm GPU limit still applies to any build.

Noise6/10

The details that bear on noise are the FDB bearings in the Momentum 14 fans and the steel side panels on this Black Solid version. No owner theme covers noise, so there's little beyond those specifications to go on. Mesh at the front also means airflow takes priority in the design.

Value7/10

The package includes three fans, a PSU bracket, a top radiator bracket, cable aligners and straps, and a dust filter set. Having three fans fitted at the front means a basic build needs no extra fan purchase for intake. The top radiator bracket saves a separate buy if you add a top radiator. All of that comes with a two-year warranty.

Who it suits

The Meshify 3 Black Solid fits builders who put cooling first and want a simple build process. It fits users with a graphics card under 349 mm and a cooler under 173 mm tall. It suits less well if you want a glass side panel, a long GPU or an SFX power supply. Plan the cabling carefully if you want a front radiator.

What owners report

Recurring themes from public owner feedback, summarised in our own words.

  • Owners praise the airflow and the front mesh intake.
  • Owners find the build easy, helped by removable panels.
  • A front radiator makes routing power cables harder.
  • Some owners find the maximum GPU length limiting.
Who should skip it
  • Buyers with a graphics card longer than 349 mm
  • Anyone who wants a glass side panel to show off parts
  • Builders using a non-ATX power supply or one longer than 180 mm
