New to PC cases? What they are and what to look for
The case is the box that holds a desktop PC's parts, keeps them cool with fans and airflow, and sets how big and loud the finished PC is.
Do you need a PC case? Every desktop build needs one. It's also the part people see, so looks matter more here than anywhere else.
What to look for
- Room for your graphics card's length and your CPU cooler's height
- A mesh front panel and included fans for cooler, quieter running
- The motherboard size it takes, and whether it fits on or under your desk

The full review
Where it fits
The LANCOOL 207 is an M-ATX sized case that also takes ATX boards. It supports ATX, Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX motherboards. It measures 455.6 x 219 x 456mm and came out in October 2024. The panels are steel and tempered glass, with fully ventilated mesh on the front, top and bottom, according to Lian Li.
The layout points at one kind of buyer: someone who wants a small tower that puts airflow first. Compact size and a mesh-heavy shell suit a single-GPU desktop better than a large multi-drive machine.
Cooling8/10
Cooling is the case's main selling point. Two 140mm ARGB fans sit at the front. Two 120mm PWM fans sit above the PSU shroud. That gives you four fans without buying anything extra.
There is plenty of room to add more. The mounts cover two 140mm fans at the front, three 120mm or two 140mm fans at the top, two 120mm fans internally and one 120mm fan at the rear. The top also takes a 360mm radiator, which gives an all-in-one liquid cooler a full-size home.
Review results back this up. GamersNexus called it the best-performing case on its thermal charts at the time of its review. Yahoo's review found the lowest overall CPU temperatures of the six cases it compared. The same review put GPU temperature second-highest of the six, so the case favours the CPU side in that comparison. With that split, a builder pairing a hot graphics card with this case may want to use the spare fan mounts.
Building and compatibilityBuild and ease of building 6/10Space and compatibility 6/10
Lian Li lists a tool-less design. The PSU has side-facing connectors to help with cable routing, and the GPU bracket is adjustable. Those are sensible features for a small case, where space around the board is tight.
Reviewers did raise complaints about cable management and PSU fit. The spec sheet gives a likely reason for the second one: the PSU must be ATX, front-mounted and no longer than 160mm. If you own a long power supply, check its length before you buy. In a compact case, tight cable space and a short PSU limit go together, so plan your cabling and PSU choice early.
Graphics card clearance is 375mm, which covers a long card in a small footprint. That figure is the main reason this case works for a high-end GPU build.
Storage
Storage is the clearest limit. There are two drive positions, each taking a 3.5" or 2.5" drive. A reviewer flagged the limited bays for 2.5-inch SSDs. With only two positions in total, this case suits a build with an M.2 drive and one or two extra drives. It is a poor fit for a bulk-storage machine or a home server with several disks.
Noise5/10
Noise depends on the fans and the panels. The case ships with 140mm fans at the front and 120mm PWM fans above the PSU shroud. The mesh front, top and bottom panels are built around moving air, so this is an airflow case first.
Who it suits
The case suits a builder who wants strong CPU cooling, four included fans and the option of a 360mm radiator in a small tower. Tom's Hardware described it as having little to dislike at its launch price, which fits the feature list: tempered glass, tool-less design and a full-size radiator mount. The trade-offs are the 160mm PSU limit, tight cable management and thin storage.
What owners report

- Reviewers report strong cooling, led by top placement on GamersNexus thermal charts.
- Reviewers raise complaints about cable management and PSU fit.
- Reviewers point to limited bays for 2.5-inch SSDs.
Who should skip it
- Anyone building a storage-heavy machine that needs more than two drives
- Buyers with a power supply longer than 160mm
- Builders who want a quiet, closed-panel case
