The full review

Where it fits

The U2724D is a 27 inch, 2560 x 1440 monitor with an IPS Black panel and a 120 Hz refresh rate. Its strengths are the panel, the stand and the warranty. Owners are least happy with the input selection and the USB-C port.

Text sharpness6/10

The resolution is QHD at 108.97 PPI on a 27 inch screen. That is the only resolution listed, so there is no higher-density mode to fall back on. If you want the finest text possible, check the pixel density figure against your own preferences before buying.

Panel quality8/10

This is the main reason to consider it. Dell lists an IPS Black panel with 2000:1 typical contrast and 350 cd/m² brightness. Colour coverage is 100% sRGB, 100% BT.709 and 98% DCI-P3. A reviewer measured an average contrast deviation of 2.1%. Owners praise the strong colour and decent grey uniformity, which fits those figures.

Owner opinion on contrast is mixed. Some report backlight bleed and IPS glow, mostly at the edges or when viewed from an angle. Dell lists the monitor as not HDR ready, so HDR content is not a reason to buy it.

Refresh rate and motion7/10

The standard refresh rate is 120 Hz, with a 5 ms GTG response time. Owners value the 120 Hz refresh rate. Some say the response time is slower than dedicated gaming monitors for motion. With that 5 ms figure and those complaints, it suits general desktop use better than competitive gaming.

Connectivity5/10

The listed ports are one HDMI 2.1, two DisplayPort, one USB Type-C, an RJ-45 network port and five USB ports. The Ethernet port and USB ports give it hub features. Owners still call the connectivity limited. They describe a single HDMI input, one DisplayPort input, and a USB-C port without video or power delivery.

That last point matters if you plan to run a laptop from one cable. The box includes a power cable, a 1.8 m DisplayPort 1.4 cable and a 1 m USB Type-A to USB Type-C Gen 2 cable. Anyone who needs USB-C charging or video should check Dell's own specification sheet first, because owners report it is not there.

Stand and ergonomics9/10

The stand covers every adjustment. Height moves through 150 mm and tilt runs from -5° to 21°. Swivel is ±45° and pivot is ±90°, so you can rotate the screen into portrait for code or documents. The VESA 100 x 100 mm mount lets you swap the stand for an arm.

Warranty and support8/10

Dell lists a 3-Year Advanced Exchange Service plus Premium Panel Exchange.

Verdict

The U2724D suits buyers who put panel quality and a flexible stand first and who connect through DisplayPort or HDMI. The IPS Black panel and its listed specifications are backed by owner praise for colour and grey uniformity, and owners also value the 120 Hz refresh rate. The owner complaints about the USB-C port, the number of inputs and the response time are the points to weigh against them.
