The full review
Where it fits
The BVX700LI is a line-interactive tower UPS rated at 360 W / 700 VA. It has four IEC C13 outlets, all battery-backed and surge-protected. The unit is small, at 138 x 98 x 310 mm and 4.2 kg, so it fits on a shelf or under a desk. Add up the draw of your own kit and check it against the 360 W rating before you buy.
The unit is listed to be discontinued on 31 Dec 2026, with BVXR700LI named as the recommended replacement.
Power protection
The input range is 140-300 V AC around a 230 V nominal, at 50/60 Hz. Transfer time is 6 ms typical and 10 ms maximum. Surge energy is rated at 273 J.
The output on battery is a stepped approximation to a sine wave, not a pure sine wave. APC doesn't list the waveform as pure sine. If your gear has power supplies that need a clean sine wave on battery, check the maker's guidance before buying. The unit is certified CE and CB, to EN/IEC 62040-1 and 62040-2.
Shutdown and integration1/10
This is the main weakness. APC lists USB compatible as No, and lists no network management card or software. The listed specs include no connection that Synology, QNAP, TrueNAS or NUT could use to trigger an automatic shutdown. The unit can keep gear running through a short cut. Based on the specs, it can't tell a NAS or server when to shut down.
If your NAS or hypervisor must shut down cleanly on a long outage, this is the wrong choice. Look for a model with a listed data connection instead.
Runtime and battery4/10
The battery is sealed lead-acid, 12 V, 7.0 Ah. APC lists 6 minutes at half load (180 W) and about 1 second at full load (360 W). APC lists no runtime figure between those two points, so you can't read your own figure from the specs. At 180 W the runtime is 6 minutes. That suits short outages and brief brownouts. It does not suit a long cut.
Owner feedback matches this in two ways. Some owners say the battery runtime falls off within about a year. Others say replacing the battery is hard. Some of this feedback comes from the India variant, so treat the detail with care. The positive theme is that owners find it useful for a router, modem or NAS during short outages.
Outlets and build6/10
All four outlets are C13 sockets. You need IEC leads to connect your equipment. Check which plug type your kit uses before you buy. All four outlets are battery-backed and surge-protected, so none is surge-only. The standard warranty is 2 years. With a battery that owners say fades within about a year, it is worth knowing how that warranty treats the battery. The research doesn't say.
Verdict
The hardware suits a small, short-outage setup: it has a 360 W / 700 VA rating, four battery-backed outlets and an AVR input range of 140-300 V AC. The missing USB compatibility, the stepped waveform and the reported battery problems limit it. It suits a router and modem, or a NAS you are happy to leave running until the battery runs out. If you need managed shutdown, look elsewhere.
What owners report
Recurring themes from public owner feedback, summarised in our own words.
- Owners report battery runtime fading within about a year.
- Owners say replacing the battery is difficult.
- Owners praise it for keeping a router, modem or NAS up through short outages.
Who should skip it
- Buyers who need automatic NAS or server shutdown over USB or network
- Anyone whose equipment needs a pure sine wave on battery
- Buyers who want easy battery swaps and long runtime
