The full review

Where it fits

This is Gigabyte's GAMING OC version of AMD's Radeon RX 9070 XT, released on 6 March 2025. It uses the RX 9070 XT GPU with 4096 stream processors and a PCI-E 5.0 interface. The research does not list clock speeds for this model, so the OC in the name comes with no figures to compare.

Memory and bandwidth7/10

The card carries 16GB of GDDR6 on a 256-bit memory bus, running at 20 Gbps. The research doesn't say how much memory particular games or local AI tools need. Check the requirements of the software you plan to run against that 16GB figure before you buy.

Encoding, outputs and software6/10

The spec sheet lists HEVC and AV1 encode and decode. That matters if you want to transcode video for a media server. The card has two DisplayPort 2.1a outputs and two HDMI 2.1b outputs. Maximum digital resolution is 7680x4320, and it supports four displays in multi-view.

On driver support, the research shows AMD's Radeon RX 9000 series with a status of Supported and no end date. The sources here don't cover ROCm or Linux driver quality in any detail. If you plan to run AI tools or a Linux workstation on it, check those points before buying.

Power and cooling

The card takes power through three 8-pin connectors. Gigabyte recommends an 850W power supply. A third-party spec table gives AMD's reference board power as 304W. That is a clear demand on the PSU, and it means you need three free 8-pin cables before the card will fit your build.

Gigabyte lists a Hawk fan, server-grade thermal gel, a reinforced structure and a 2oz copper PCB. A dual BIOS switch offers Performance and Silent modes. For anyone who cares about noise, the Silent mode is a useful option. The research contains no noise measurements, so how loud the cooler runs in either mode is not something the sources settle.

Size and fit5/10

The card measures 288 mm long, 132 mm wide and 56 mm high. With that length and thickness, it needs a roomy case. Small-form-factor builds and compact rackmount chassis are likely to struggle, and you should check your case's clearance for both dimensions before ordering. The three 8-pin connectors add cable routing to consider.

Owner feedback

Owner feedback in the research is thin. One community thread, a single owner report, describes low GPU utilisation and power draw of only about 60-150W in some games. One report is not a pattern, and the research doesn't give a cause or a fix. It is worth knowing about, but it isn't enough to mark the card down heavily.

Build and warranty7/10

Gigabyte lists the Hawk fan, thermal gel, dual BIOS, reinforced structure and 2oz copper PCB as the card's build features. The research gives no durability or sustained-load information for any of them. Warranty terms sit on Gigabyte's warranty page, so confirm the length with your retailer before purchase.

Bottom line

This card is a sensible choice if you have a large case, a capable PSU and want 16GB of memory with AV1 and HEVC encode. Its 304W reference board power, three 8-pin connectors and 56 mm thickness are the costs. Anyone with a small case or a lower-capacity PSU should check those numbers first.

What owners report

Recurring themes from public owner feedback, summarised in our own words.

  • One owner reported low GPU utilisation and power draw of only about 60-150W in some games.
Who should skip it
  • Small-form-factor or compact server builders who can't fit a 288 mm, 56 mm-thick card
  • Buyers with a PSU below the recommended 850W or without three 8-pin cables
  • Anyone needing 24GB or more of video memory for larger local AI models
